History & Architecture
Rockport opened in 1964 and features 9,200 square feet. The building was designed by the architects Hargett-Hoag Associates. The branch is composed of brick and stone with a steel structure. A large picture window dominates the front façade.
The Rockport Branch is the site of the new Best Buy Teen Tech Center, an interactive, state-of-the-art learning center for teenagers. Cleveland Public Library was awarded a grant for this special project in 2017, and the Teen Tech Center opened in fall 2018. This new center complements the Library’s ongoing work with digital literacy, hands-on learning, STEM education, and civic engagement.
