100 Years of Continuous Service

August marked the 100th anniversary of the Carnegie West Branch, the largest and oldest branch within the Cleveland Public Library system. The branch was built in 1910 and named after the godfather of American libraries, Andrew Carnegie and a century of service has been provided to the Ohio City neighborhood from this location. Its more notable services include seasonal tax workshops, computer classes, multicultural programs and celebrations, an annual film festival, children's reading clubs and free summer lunches for area students.

Anniversary festivities included musical entertainment, children's crafts, a puppet show and a behind-the-scenes tour of the historical structure, which features original artwork depicting classic scenes from childhood literature.
