Greater Needs, Greater Support

As a result of the ongoing economic challenges that monopolized much of 2010, Cleveland Public Library saw more people walking through its doors in need of help. People who may have never before turned to the Library as a resource now saw it as a possible solution to their problems.

Not only was the Library a training ground for people in need of learning new technologies, but it also served as a conduit for people needing community services, including scholarships and financial support.

The Library has always served as a hub of community information, but in 2010, the need for information and assistance was greater than what most people can remember. Some of the groups of people we served in 2010 were:

  • Unemployed workers who needed help creating résumés or uploading them to employment websites
  • Underpaid workers who required additional skills and training to qualify for better-paying jobs
  • Non-profit organizations and community agencies looking for third-party funding or meeting spaces
  • First-time business owners who attended Library classes to better understand the operational and financial needs of their businesses | More »
