When Cleveland Public Library launched an international design competition for a new Martin Luther King, Jr. Branch, dozens of architecture firms entered for the chance to design an iconic library branch that will serve the University Circle community while also honoring Dr. King’s legacy.
The Library ultimately named three design teams as finalists: MASS Design Group and LDA Architects; SO-IL and JKURTZ Architects; and Bialosky Cleveland and Vines Architecture. These teams presented their designs in a special public meeting on May 10, 2018. Attendees had the chance to view the designs, ask questions, and submit comments to be shared with the competition’s Selection and Advisory Committees. While the comment period has closed, this video of the presentations provides a closer look at the finalists’ designs.
The Cleveland Public Library Board of Trustees will announce the winning design for the new Martin Luther King, Jr. Branch following a special board meeting at noon on June 15, 2018, in the Board Room on the 10th floor of the Louis Stokes Wing at 525 Superior Avenue.
