The Greater Cleveland Roll of Honor contains the names of many Cleveland-area men and women who served in World War II. The large, four-volume set was compiled by family and friends who listed men and women serving in all branches of the U.S. military.
Louis B. Seltzer, editor of the Cleveland Press, and Mayor Frank Lausche dedicated the Greater Cleveland Roll of Honor on May 6, 1942. These volumes were given to Cleveland Public Library to be permanently housed once the war ended.
The volumes will be on display in Special Collections, 3rd floor of Main Library (325 Superior Ave.) from November 9-18, 2017. (Please note that the Library will be closed on Saturday, November 11, 2017, in observance of Veterans Day).
We thank veterans and active-duty military for their service and invite the public to come see this piece of Cleveland history.
