Buckeye-Shaker

The Buckeye-Shaker neighborhood, also known as Buckeye, Larchmere, or Ludlow, is located on Cleveland’s far southeast side. The neighborhood is bordered by the Woodland Hills neighborhood to the west, the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood to the south, and the city of Shaker Heights to the east. Buckeye-Shaker has a civil rights history. The Ludlow Community Association, created as a response to anti-integration violence, advocated for an integrated community in the 1950s and 60s. The neighborhood was also known as “Little Hungary” in the early 20th century, around the Buckeye Road Neighborhood.
