It is with great pleasure that we announce Man Up, CLE 2024!
Man Up, CLE is a local initiative created by Cleveland Public Library, empowering young men to step up as community leaders and readers.
This year, youth will engage in various breakout sessions introducing soft life skills, enjoy lunch with activities, and conclude the day with our keynote speaker, Children’s author Don Tate. Each participant will receive a copy of Jerry Changed the Game!: How Engineer Jerry Lawson Revolutionized Video Games Forever.

ABOUT Don Tate
Don Tate is an award-winning author, and the illustrator of numerous critically acclaimed books for children. He is also one of the founding hosts of the blog The Brown Bookshelf – a blog designed to push awareness of the myriad of African American voices writing for young readers, with book reviews, author and illustrator interviews. Don frequently speaks at schools, public libraries and writing conferences, and participates in book festivals.
REGISTRATION
Registration is limited to 25 students per school, as we want as many schools as possible to experience Man Up, CLE.
- Each student must have a permission form to record/photograph.
- You may scan the documents to difranco.barnes@cpl.org or bring them on the event day.
Transportation Assistance
Transportation reimbursement is available to schools in need of assistance.
- Please arrange transportation and have the transportation company invoice the Cleveland Public Library Outreach and Programming Services Department (ops@cpl.org), Attn. DiFranco Barnes.
- We will reimburse transportation costs up to $250 per bus.
