What is Girl Power!?—a local initiative pioneered by the Cleveland Public Library empowering young leaders and avid readers in our community.

Dive into captivating breakout sessions designed to cultivate essential life skills, enjoy lunch, and forge connections with inspiring young women from across the area. And the grand finale? A keynote address from none other than the acclaimed NYT Bestselling Author, Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé!

But that’s not all—each attendee will receive a complimentary copy of Where Sleeping Girls Lie. Geared towards ages 14-18, this gripping tale will hit shelves on March 19. Cleveland is an exclusive stop on Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé’s highly-anticipated book release tour, offering your scholars an opportunity to meet the author and delve into her thrilling world.

FARIDAH ÀBÍKÉ-ÍYÍMÍDÉ

Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé is the instant New York Times, International bestselling, & Award-winning author of Ace of Spades. She is an avid tea drinker, a collector of strange mugs, and a graduate from a university in the Scottish Highlands where she received a BA in English Literature. She also has an MA in Shakespeare Studies from Kings College London. When she isn’t spinning dark tales, Faridah can be found examining the deeper meanings in Disney channel original movies.

Registration is limited to 20 students per school, as we want as many schools as possible to experience Girl Power!

  • Each student must have a permission form to record/photograph.
  • You may scan the documents to bernadette.lemak@cpl.org or bring them on the event day.

Transportation Assistance

Transportation reimbursement is available to schools in need of assistance.

  • Please coordinate transportation arrangements and kindly ensure that either your school or the transportation company invoices the Cleveland Public Library Outreach and Programming Services Department (ops@cpl.org), Attention: Bernadette Lemak.
  • We will reimburse transportation costs up to $300 per bus.
