Neighborhood Voices

Literary Cleveland leads a city-wide writing project through a series of virtual workshops, inviting and encouraging Clevelanders from every corner of our city to pen stories, essays, and poems about their neighborhood. At the end of the summer, stories will be collected, curated, and shared in a virtual book release along with readings, author features, and more.

When: June 1 – August 1 | varies by neighborhood
Class Length: 90-minutes, two workshop series for each neighborhood

Cleveland Inkubator

Literary Cleveland’s annual conference for writers and readers goes virtual for 2020: writing workshops, craft talks, panel discussions, readings, and resources for writers, authors, and poets at all levels of experience as well as those aspiring to discover and develop their own literary leanings.

When: July 13 – 31

Get Loud! Speak Out! Summer Lit League 2020

Read, speak out, and make a difference in your community with summer reading activities, virtual story times, and exciting events like virtual town hall gatherings for kids and families.

When:Monday – Friday, June 1 – July 25
Class Length: 1 hour

Make a Change

Presented by The Center for Arts Inspired Learning: Enjoy weekly democracy-inspired arts and crafts for kids and families. Join the virtual art class online as a teaching artist leads you step-by-step through a new themed project each week. Pick up your free art supply kit (while supplies last). Make a Change is part of the 2020 Summer Lit League program. Summer Lit League participants will receive login details before June 1st. REGISTER for Summer Lit League below.

Express Yourself

The Art Therapy Studio presents virtual art classes for kids ages 7 and up. Make art, express yourself, and learn to use your creativity to deal with daily stress and build your own coping mechanisms. Free online classes are accessible on your smart phone, tablet, laptop, or computer. Space is limited and registration is required. Supplies will be provided.

When: Mondays – Fridays | 11:30am – 12:30pm
Class Length: 1 hour, 4-week session

Kindergarten Club

A free program to prepare your child for kindergarten and build support for their first year of school. Through fun activities like reading, writing, talking, singing, and playing together, families will gain valuable skills to help their child succeed in school through kindergarten and beyond.

Class Length: one 1-hour session each week

Vocal Arts Mastery

Tri-C introduces the foundations of singing for students in grades 4+. Participants will receive online instruction in solo and ensemble vocal skills, listening skills, and fundamental music theory.

Class Length: 12-week summer series

Free Online Tutoring (K-12)

Available in all subjects for students entering grades K-12.

When: offered Monday through Thursday

Sessions are scheduled between 10am – 1pm & 2pm – 5pm
Class Length: tutoring is generally scheduled in 1-hour sessions

Online ACT & SAT Boot Camp:

College Now Greater Cleveland offers free online courses for CMSD students with a focus on college entrance exam preparation, study skills, test-taking strategies, and hands-on practice. Space is limited and registration is required. For more information and to Register, contact Jyl Rhoden at

Legal Aid at the Library

The Legal Aid Society hosts free virtual advice and referral clinics for civil legal issues including housing, employment and income, family law, health, public benefits, and immigration.

Take Charge of Your Health

NEOMED offers live telehealth appointments, advice and referrals, access to benefits and resources for you and your family, and virtual workshops and support circles on important health topics including chronic disease management for conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, heart health, and mental health.

Health & Trauma Recovery

MetroHealth staff offer a virtual safe space to provide you with the support, referrals, and resources you need get through a crisis, including assistance with food, housing and transportation. Newly created virtual workshops offer in depth support on topics including grief counseling, immigration issues, employment services, and peer mentoring.
