In 2016, the second floor of the Main Library’s Louis Stokes Wing was renovated and transformed into the Learning Commons, a state-of-the art flexible meeting and event space with a large, central area, five meeting rooms, attractive furnishings and advanced technological capabilities. This inviting, collaborative space is the perfect venue for a wide variety of meetings and events ranging from training sessions and conferences to business networking events and more.

Operating hours at the Main Library are Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. The Learning Commons is also available outside regular Library hours for a fee. Please see Policy and Rules for Use of Library Meeting Rooms and Fines and Fees for additional information.
MAKING A RESERVATION
All reservations are subject to approval. Reservations are made on a first-come, first-serve basis and should be placed at least ten days in advance. To reserve space in the Learning Commons, read the Policy and Rules for Use of Library Meeting Rooms and Fines and Fees prior to submitting an application to reserve a Library meeting room (pdf) Please note that your reservations are not complete until you receive a confirmation from the Library’s Outreach and Programming Services staff.

Requests and arrangements for specific and/or special room setups and/or equipment are subject to availability and must be made at least ten days prior to the event. The Library may offer the following setup options, depending upon the space: classroom seating (tables and chairs) or auditorium seating (podium with chairs facing front, no tables). Additional fees may apply for use of any library spaces if food is served or if A/V, security or other library staff are required.
Learning Commons: This space encompasses the entirety of the second floor, including Conference Rooms A, B, C, D and E and the Garden Window Area. Capacity: 350 people. Cost: When used during or after Library hours, a fee of $2,500 plus staff costs is required.
Garden Window Area: This space includes the open area of the Learning Commons near the windows overlooking the Eastman Reading Garden. Capacity: Up to 150 people, depending upon configuration. Cost: If used during Library hours, there is no charge for the Garden Window Area. Staffing costs apply if used before Library hours, and a $2,500 fee applies for use after Library hours.
Individual Conference Rooms: Conference Rooms A, B, C, D or E may be reserved individually. Cost: There is no charge for reserving an individual conference room during Library hours. Staff costs for a single room apply for use before or after Library hours.
Multiple Rooms: An additional $100 fee applies when booking multiple conference rooms in the Learning Commons. This fee applies before, during and/or after Library hours.

- Conference Room A – 30 people
- Conference Room B – 80 people
- Conference Room C – 30 people
- Conference Room D – 30 people
- Conference Room E – 15 people
Other Spaces: In addition to the Learning Commons on the second floor, other meeting and event spaces in the Louis Stokes Wing include the Indoor Reading Garden or Louis Stokes Legacy Conference Room on the first floor, the Auditorium and lobby on the lower level and the outdoor Eastman Reading Garden.
