How do I obtain an obituary?

You can contact the History department for direct assistance or view our guide How to Obtain Cleveland Death Notices (1830s to present) and Ohio Death Certificates (1908-1953) from CPL resource and guides from the Genealogy section of this site.

How do I request an item through interlibrary loan?

Using Interlibrary Loan, patrons can borrow books, microfilm and order photocopies of journal articles that are not available through our subscription databases or our regional CLEVNET library system. Audio Visual materials cannot be requested. Photocopies of periodical articles require a prepayment of $5.00 and requests must conform to the copyright laws of the United States. Patrons must have a valid CLEVNET library card and pick-up/borrow/return materials at Cleveland Public Main Library and branches. How do I receive notices via email or SMS text?

With a NetNotice account (as long as you provide your email address) you will receive e-mail reminders when it’s time to return or renew items you borrowed. You can also set up your account to receive your account information each week.
A new feature of NetNotice also allows you to receive your item pick-up notices by e-mail and SMS text message (standard rates for your mobile phone carrier apply).
