Ready for the future: CPL 150
We are proud of our long history in Cleveland but we are even more excited about our future. In 2019, we will celebrate 150 years of service to the local community…but only if we can successfully demonstrate the Library’s relevancy and value in a changing world. That’s why we are committed to investing in those technologies and innovations that best meet the needs of our highly diverse patron base. In 2012, not only did we open TechCentral, which effectively introduces our patrons to the evolving world of digital devices, but we also created MyCloud, which allows anyone to have their own personalized computer experience. These are but a few examples of the many solutions being identified to keep up with changing demands.

Cultivate a global perspective
Cleveland is rich in cultural and ethnic diversity, and the Library is at the forefront of recognizing and celebrating such diversity. In 2012, for example, in direct response to changing demographics, the Library expanded the number of Chinese language classes offered throughout the Learning Centers and at the Main Library and even added a Chinese language storytime.

Innovate for efficient and sustainable operations
Efficiency is always a priority, regardless of the industry. I’m proud to say that, in 2012, we became a faster, as well as a smarter, organization. One of the most notable accomplishments in this area was the completion of a comprehensive materials handling study which resulted in our ability to get materials into the hands of our patrons in record time. We continue to study and evaluate our facilities, as well as our processes, to ensure that they are optimized to better serve our patrons. | MORE »
