Becoming a MakerSpace

There is a national trend occurring within the library world of creating MakerSpaces. Since Cleveland Public Library has always led the industry in the areas of technology and hands-on learning, it is only natural that we were quick to jump on this latest trend. You’ll read much more about this exciting endeavor in the 2013 Report to the Community, but if you visit TechCentral at the Main Library, you will already see the evolution underway.

The concept behind MakerSpaces is to provide patrons the opportunity to learn about new technologies and provide them with the tools, as well as the skills and know-how, to actually create things. In preparation for a larger initiative in 2013, the Library has already started reaching out to other organizations within the community that could partner in the endeavor to share ideas and technologies.
