Library to Launch “Book Bike” During National Bike Month

This summer Cleveland Public Library is coming to you with its brand new “Book Bike”, which will hit the streets this summer. The Book Bike joins another community based library initiative, CPL’s BookBox, which has been in the community since 2012.

“Engaging with our patrons and the community has always been a priority for us,” said Felton Thomas, Director of CPL. “The Book Bike and BookBox are innovative, fun, and easy ways to include the library in neighborhood festivals, parks, and events taking place throughout the summer.”

With the mission of celebrating literacy and promoting healthy living while implementing creative ways to educate, providing library services, and instilling pride in our urban communities, the traveling library will display informational services and materials, serve as a library checkout station, and will be a Wi-Fi hotspot. Community members will be able to check out books, sign up for library cards, and look up books in the catalog.

CPL’s BookBox is returning to Wade Oval in University Circle this summer for the Wade Oval Wednesdays concert series. The BookBox is stocked with books on popular topics such as gardening, cooking, and urban agriculture. Community members can check out books and sign up for a library card at the BookBox.

The new Book Bike will be introduced to the public on Friday, May 29 at 12:30 p.m. in the Eastman Reading Garden at Main Library.
