Getting Started with Freegal

Download Limit

You can download up to five songs per week. Your counter will reset each week on Monday morning. If you do not download five songs in any given week, your remaining available downloads will not be carried over to the next week.

Click and Save

When you are ready to download a song, click the “Download Now” link, select “Save” at the prompt, and choose where you want to save the file on your device. Each time you click on the “Download now” button, the download will be subtracted from your weekly total, even if you cancel the download while it is in progress.

Having trouble finding your band in the Artist Search box?

Find band names that begin with “The” alphabetized under the letter “T.”

Recent Downloads

Freegal Music allows you to download previously downloaded songs again, without using up one of your weekly downloads. You can download a song up to two more times after your initial download.

Use the Smart Search box for suggestions when you know the name of the album, artist, or song. As you type into the search box, suggested search terms will drop down from the search box. Click on one of the suggestions to browse songs from that artist. If you do not use a suggested search term, the search results will include anything that has that term in the track, name, or album.

Use the Advanced Search to search by composer, genre, label, artist, song, or album.
