Gale Virtual Reference Library - Contains 8,000 to 12,000 word essays on specific culture groups in the United States, emphasizing religions, holidays, customs, and languages in addition to providing information on historical background and settlement patterns. Also covers ethnoreligious groups such as Jews, Chaldeans, and Amish. Each essay lists organizations and research centers; name, address, and contact information for periodicals, radio, and television stations; and a further readings section.

Kids Search is designed especially for youth in grades K-6. Kids Search makes it easier for students to look for their subjects of interest by automatically searching across all applicable databases simultaneously. Important features and functionality of Kids Search include a completely new, visually appealing look and feel; the ability to search by topic, subtopic, or keywords; simultaneous searching across all subscribed databases; the ability to sort results by relevance, as well as by date; the option of filtering search results by source type; and the ability to add search results, images, or persistent links to searches to the Folder.

The encyclopedia also provides images, diagrams, maps and activities tied to national curriculum standards.

CultureGrams Online Database links you to all CultureGrams editions, including World, Kids, Provinces, and States material. This resource includes: worldwide photo gallery, slideshows, video clips, famous people collection, and a recipe collection that offers five homegrown recipes from all countries in the database. Plus, sortable (create-your-own) data tables help put dozens of facts into perspective.

BJ Pinchbeck's Homework Helper (Social Studies) Pinchbeck's Homework Helper (Social Studies) was established in April 1996 when BJ was nine-years-old. It is now a website managed by Discovery Education to provide homework help to students of all grades in all subject areas, such as social studies. 
Fact Monster (Social Studies) Monster (Social Studies) is a free reference site for students, teachers, and parents. Users will be able to obtain homework help, and find facts on thousands of subjects, including social studies.

National Geographic: The Underground Railroad Geographic: The Underground Railroad is an interactive website that helps children learn about the Underground Railroad journey, the routes to freedom, the people who were a part of it, and provides a time line. is the official web site for the White House and President Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States. 
Global Trek: Virtual Travel Around the World an educational twist, this amazing interactive site lets students plan travel itineraries to countries around the world without ever having to leave their home or classroom (a la Expedia or Orbitz).
