Matisse in Verve! Verve: an artistic and literary quarterly, was published irregularly in Paris, beginning in December, 1939. It featured high quality reproductions of contemporaneous and earlier art work as well as short stories and essays. The colorful covers were designed by well-known French artists such as Matisse, Bonnard and Braque. To view these dynamic publications vist the Special Collections Department on the 3rd floor of the Main Library.

The Cleveland Public Library Special Collection Department had the good fortune to be the recipient of the collections of architectural details, posters, correspondence, and memorabilia donated by the Biehle family. The material, which makes up two separate collections, includes works by August Frederick Biehle, August F. Biehle, Jr., Frederick Chaffee Biehle, and Joseph Jicha as well as material that illuminated the development of this artistic family.
