Notice anything different? CPL has a new logo!

Although the website now reflects our new logo and looks a little different, the content and navigation remains the same.  So you will still find your favorite resources on the same pages. Plans are underway to construct a new website in 2010, but we couldn't keep the spectrum of colors in the new logo under wraps any longer!

New and old logos

Would the logo designer (or someone else) like to comment on what the new logo is intended to convey?

Also, would it be possible to post an image of the old logo so I can see what's been replaced?

Thanks!

Logo Description

Absolutely! Here is a description from the designer:
The new Cleveland Public Library logo embodies the elements of light through its use of spectral colors illuminating the transparent pages of a book. The icon also symbolizes the corner pillars of the Louis Stokes Wing of the Cleveland Public Library, the spectrum of light illuminated through its windows. The logo is framed by a luminous arc, which acts as the bridge to knowledge, learning and inspiration.

re: Logo Description

Thanks for the description!

How much does this all cost?

Was the logo designed by a marketing agency, internally, or through submissions from the public at large?

New Logo Design

The new CPL logo was designed in-house by one of CPL’s talented Graphic Artists. The presentation of the logo on the top off the website was also done in-house by the library’s Web Manager.

New logo

Please have your webmaster check out the CPL home page under different browsers. The new logo does not render at all under Mozilla Firefox 3.5.5. There is just a black stripe at the top of the screen. Under IE 8, it looks fine.

Delete your temporary Internet files

The logo was designed for cross-platform compatibility and was tested using various browsers, including FireFox 3.5.5. If you are not viewing the correct/new logo, please try holding your "shift" key down and refreshing the page a few times. Also, please try deleting your temporary Internet files (clearing your cache). This should resolve the problem of viewing older versions of images that are cached on your computer.

I like the new logo because

I like the new logo because it's colorful. Also, I like the light tan background as well. Both changes gives the website a brighter, livelier look.

New logo

Like the new logo! Front page of your site is still way too texty though.
